THE TRAVEL HOOK-1 ll One mile at a time with Cyndy ll

" A heart that wonders around always finds a destination " ~Liza Das.

Hello to my dear new blooming readers just like i am a new flowering writer my name is Liza Das (Cyndy) and I come from the land of tea-gardens and one-horned Rhinos, ASSAM. Growing up in a city like Guwahati never actually could fulfill and take away my thirst for adventure , explorations and traveling . I could no longer resist my mind wondering and the soul searching for the satisfaction of breathing the fresh air of a new destination. This is how my journey began as a traveler and explorer. Come along with me , we shall both enjoy the tour driving through my words. And trust me it will be hell of a ride! My whole teenage life went by exploring the place closest to my heart as well as Assam which is Meghalaya. The Land known to be the Scotland of the East is also famous for its magic of capturing hearts in the blink of an eye. Shillong being the capital city of Meghalaya is believed to be a living dream specially for the North-eastern People. So hold tight and get ready to feel some butterflies in your tummy.

Destination 1: I started this long journey of 2-3 hours to Shillong early morning from Khanapara ,Guwahati . Along with my huge group of 15 people ready to gawk at the beauty of Shillong, we had everything pre-planned and were all set for the 2 Night 3 Day Trip to this amazing part of Meghalaya near Dawki (which is already famous for its crystal clean water and peaceful rural scenery) known as Shnongpdeng. Shnongpdeng is located in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya through which the Umngot river flows. The specialty is its rich quality of fine water that it seems the boats are flying few meters above the ground.

Stop 1: After reaching Police bazaar , Shillong we directly headed towards the Sumo stand to start off with our final trip towards Dawki. • The fare for one sumo to such destinations might range from 3000 and above. So you have a cheaper travel if you go along with a big bunch of people.

Stop 2: The roads swooping through the majestic wonders of nature and the cool breeze slapping the face already hooked our minds and soul.

We stopped by "Light-view restaurant" on the way to have our lunch. The food was yum and we were all satisfied. This restaurant is cheap and serves Assamese and Bengali cuisine. So if you have a taste bud as such this place is a thumbs up.

We crossed few villages on the way as the road became narrower and twisted with forests on both the sides as Shnongpdeng is a place off the tourist lap. After 3-4 hours of the actual daydreaming relaxing session we came to a halt. Camp-life : We ran for our tents. Our camps were just on the riverside opening the view to the wide never ending beauty. Camping itself counts to be one of the best part in a trip. For our own convenience regarding hygiene and luggage safety along with the camps we booked a room. The rent falls around 1200 and also accommodations are readily available on spot.

Food : I spent time exploring the local areas nearby the river . There are shops and restaurants where you can get the taste of the Local Khasi Food at a reasonable price. Activities to explore : We went for boating and enjoyed the sight of a waterfall. You can also spend your time doing activities like river rafting , swimming , trekking , cliff jumping, fishing and so much more.

• You get to see these tiny houses completely made out of bamboo and so aesthetically rich. • There is a bridge made out of bamboo crossing the river , you just stand in the middle of the bridge and get a view as if you are standing on water. • We also went up to the suspension bridge hanging high above the river and when you walk through it feels like you are swinging in the air. A gentle wind touching your face so high up the land obviously gives you goosebumps but also an electrifying vibe that you can never ever replace.

Few tips : I would advice you all to carry sets of warm clothes because even if you are visiting the place during summers , at night it becomes very windy and you might fall sick due to the cold. So yes , of course , precaution is better than cure. • My personal favorite experience was the campfire under the night sky having special barbecued chicken in one hand and my other hand dancing and singing to the songs, merrily among the hills.

If you are a person who loves diving into the lap of nature this majestic place is a must-visit spot for you!

Stay tune for new unheard stories coming up. I have more thrilling and exhilarating tales of wonderlands in my bucket !! Till then Stay safe, stay quarantined. Spread more love :) #travel
