What do I want to say here?
Evidently speaking, I have no f****ing idea when did this whole new craze for being a top influencer or celeb like personality grew out in the social media platforms like instagram? Now don’t get triggered and don’t get me wrong and don’t say that these people are making a change, because indeed there are some people that are genuinely influencing the world through their innovative activities but here I am talking about those show offs who’s life took a different turn after the banning of Tik Tok and the recent ban of PUBG.
What exactly did happened?
Moments Tik Tok got banned, Instagram introduced a new thing called Reels where you post
a clip of 25 seconds or so and when that happened some show off started spreading cringe like every day and on the top of that instagram have become a daily dose of sexual and nude contents that makes me think if I am on social connecting site or a porn site? Other than that with the recent bans, the cases of suicide and rage acts are growing at high rates. In the recent events I heard that a girl took her life when her social media following started decreasing and also a kid committed suicide for his frustration due to not being able to play PUBG.
Other factors: -
Things also started taking a bizarre turn when the competition for likes, share, follow and subscribe became a speed run for most of the content creators that it lead to people making more cringe worthy contents. It appears like as if we are seeing a plethora of degrading subtlety in contents of social media. Also, the cases of clinical depression, hyper tension, anxiety, mania, and notably FOMO is now associated with social media and the judgements of the netizens. Also, nowadays it’s easy to defame and troll anyone since memeing is a new thing. Everyone is just trying to bring each other down and it makes me wonder whom are they influencing and what are they influencing about if they don’t even practice what they preaches.
Sometimes it also comes to our notice that positive influencers gets the most undeserved
hates and gets name calling such as attention seeker or drama queen, while the show off influencers has most loyal followers that will drool over her half naked picture.
See, what I meant by loss of subtlety here? It seems like as if the whole face of social media have changed in 2020.
Conclusion: - Now I don’t want to sound like total jerk here who has issues with these social butterflies and neither have I wanted to act like a guy from older era, because I started using social media since like 2009 before social media became a ghastly version of itself. Now the thing is that there are both negative content and positive content in social media sites but the most part that gets exposure are the negativity. I don’t get the point of taking one’s own life over the decreasing fan following on social media when he/she has real people to talk to? Or getting so much effected by banning of a damn game. God damn it, I am a gamer myself but I took these bans with ease man. Thing is that this generation seems like slowly turning into social media slaves then social media users, and this is where the problem starts. Its high time we create an awareness among the kids and youths instead of gifting a child a f****ing smartphone in his/her 8th birthday because son, at that age I remember getting a f****ing action figure to play with. Ugh, I just miss the good ole times that were not like this, the times that we will never get again.
