Raw Star:-Featuring Abhilash Choudhury

In North East India, Folk music has its authenticity and a signature flavor, that gives us the feeling of our roots. Artists like Taba Chake and the likes, have been playing their parts in bringing modern folk to the region and taking it to a new heights.

Abhilash Choudhury is one such artist, who has been bringing new flavor to Indie Folk music inspired by mainstream Hindi songs and Rock as well as pop music. Taking inspiration from the likes of classics like Aryans and Lucky Ali to modern maestros like The Local Train and Pratik Kuhad, Abhilash has released about six single as a part of his discography, including an Assamese track. His new single, “Munasib”, is however a track with a different sound that moves from folk roots to more electronica based musicality and modern tone in composition.

Abhilash is also a part of a live music act called The Free Fall, which is manages as well and

his influences as a musician also includes the likes of John Mayer, Harry Styles, North East Breeze, Myles Kennedy, Jayanta Hazarika to name a few and along with that rock music, as well.

We wish Abhilash all the very best for his next releases and hoping to hear an EP or album from him very soon.

It won’t be wrong to say that the mainstream approach in the songs from North East India is now getting its much needed recognition and we now have an abundance of artists. And in Raw Star we will be featuring some more such artists in the near future stay tuned.
