With Monsoon approaching, we needed to freshen up our mood a bit to feel the vibe, and so here we came with some of the best releases of the pre-monsoon.
1. Identity Crisis, Girish and The Chronicles
Third song from the upcoming record and is the second single to be featured into our new edition, the song speak volume for itself since it goes vocal about the menace of racism and lost identity and language and the struggle to preserve it.
2. Insaaf ka Qaatil, Underground Authority
If lyrical rap in India is still surviving, then most of the thank you’s goes to EPR Iyyer and his band Underground Authority, who rose into prominence since late 2010’s. EPR’s spitfire delivery makes the song a hard punch into the faces of those who has been glorifying corruption and dirty politics in the country.
3. Meghranjani, Abhi Saikia
Probably the second song to be featured by Abhi Saikia, is a lo-fi Pop track with some
influence of RnB and trap. The music video of the song is impressive and shows and artistic as well as animation skills of Abhi Saikia and lyrically the song is about the emotions of love.
4. Bohemia Mon, Gautam Kaushik, Trion Mahanta and Punam Nath
This feature is for the first time is a special one for us since this one is a purely Mainstream modern Assamese song. The song is very beautifully composed and arranged and has that old school and retro vibe of Assamese music that was obviously long lost. We need more music like this one.
5. Pajar, Kangkan Rabha
As a song, Pajar is a bluesy Alternative rock guitar solo/instrumental song that sounds
melodic and soothing at best. Composition wise the song is straight up Blues and jazz, infused with classic rock tone, melodic licks and riffing. Not many guitar solos/instrumentals tends to get released from North Eastern part, but songs like this one, definitely needs a listen.
6. Puhar Proyakhi Mon, Prachurjya
Yes, Prachurjya is back, and his new song definitely needed a feature, again. An EDM infused modern folk song, it’s one of the best EDM release that we had stumble upon this month, is toppled with bouncy trap beats and bass drops and impressive samples, and on vocals, Prachurjya shines on while lyrically the song is made with a “for the fans, of the fans and by the fans” attitude, yes, the song is dedicated to the fans and music lovers.
7. Plagues, Arkks
This feature now might come off as a surprise but the song itself speaks a volume. An
impressive collaboration between UK and India in which a talented vocalist from Assam, Chayan Chaterjee, have lend his vocal and lyrical talent. Composition wise the song is a straight up progressive metalcore song with lyrical content about the current scenario of the global pandemic.
8. The haunting, Eyes of the Martyr
A groove laden progressive hardcore song by a band who have been holding the flag of progressive groove since 2010 in the local music scene of North East as well as Delhi. Eyes of the Martyr probably released something unexpected this time. “The haunting” as a song is cold, dark and intense that depict the brutal vendetta of the protagonist against the demons called anxiety and depression and how he kills it. Composition wise the song sounds groovy and heavy and has a nice texture of down tuned riffs, pounding drums and hulky bass-lines.
9. Glass canon, Alien Sky Cult
When Alien Sky Cult made an announcement about the release of their new song "glass
canon", it made people excited and the day it was released, it made people to do some serious headbanging, because the band have delivered a sheer display of technicality and heaviness with melody and aggression. A top notch composition and arrangement blended with amazing lyricism, the song is where the band finds themselves musically into their career right now.
Enjoy the thundering sound and rainfall with these nine songs to pump up your mood.
