Sitting at home without any work could be annoying for many. This lockdown made many of us know this aspect. When there is additional work pressure, we feel more pressurized and put us in anxiety mode. Many of us would have thought about a life free from work and sitting relaxed all time as the antidote to derail our stress life. However, this has proved to be a bad idea as not having any work and sitting idle confined within the four walls of the room has resulted in putting us under the similar stress which we thought of exiting from.
Many experts advised people to perform those activities which can yield something productive and substantial for our life. I don’t know how many of us took this advice seriously but the facts indicate something contrary. Several businesses during this lockdown are reporting gloomy growth except for one business.
The pornography industry is witnessing record surge during this lockdown. They must thank the people for showering this love and not thanking Indians for their growth would be an injustice. Maybe many of you who are reading this might be chuckling privately as you may have played as their contributor.
According to a popular website pornhub, the traffic on their site has surged by 25% post lockdown which is an all-time high. This fact can well appear like an indication that says that Indians during this lockdown with no work are at an all-time high in their world of sexual fantasies. Well, there is nothing nasty in visiting these sites but only if you are a mature adult who could draw a distinction between right or wrong, real or imaginary. But the unanswered question is who are surfing these porn sites, children who are on holiday from their schools? Or Adults who are off work these days?
We can only hope that those accessing are adults, not childrens. If visitors are children putting their identity as an adult on these sites then it would be disastrous for the society like India where the space for children-parent interaction on this issue is a distant dream. Porn is not a much troubling issue in India, instead handling the emotions and unanswered questions of imaginary sexual fantasies among youth especially the children who switch these sites to get the answer of their curious mind on sexual issues is the real issue.
This is not the end. Reports suggest that post lockdown in India, there has been a significant surge in the sale of condoms and sex toys. Condom sales have seen a surge of around 28% which is unusual. Indeed, both toys and condoms are for pleasure and satisfaction as sitting at home idle could be enough depressing. Many couples who earlier got less time to stay close are now having adequate time to be close and maybe the sales indicate the same. I can’t say whether this all pleasure starting from porn to condoms will bring something substantial or not but it all shows that many of us are at an all-time high which is making their business all-time high. We are blowing the trumpet of horny horns much louder in this calm and deserted lockdown.
