Most of us have been hearing so many cases of Mob Lynching,in the newspaper articles,news channels and basically the social media where we may hear how a group of blood thirsty people had killed a person mercilessly.
What is Lynching?
Lynching is a premeditated extrajudicial killing by a group. Most often used to characterized informal public execution by a mob in order to punish a convict. In simple words we can describe that when a group of people attempts to punish a particular person by physically harming him can be termed as lynching. In February 2019 , Human rights watch reported at least 44 murders due to lynching happened within May 2015 to December 2018.Hundred more people have been injured in religiously motivated attacks.
Reasons of Mob Lynching in India
There cannot be a particular reason for Mob lynching but most of the cases occurred due to extreme religious motivation and fake news circulation among the masses.
On 17 June 2019, 24 year old Tabrez Ansari was attacked by a Lynch mob in Jharkhand India.He was tied to a tree,brutally beaten on suspicion of bike theft.
On 16th April 2020,A blood thirsty group of mob attacked two Sadhus and their driver in Palghar District,Maharashtra.The demonic minded group of villagers had mistaken the three passengers as thieves and killed them.
One of the most infamous incident of 2018 was the Karbi Anglong lynching case,where a mob of about 250 people attacked two youth Nilotpal and Abhijeet and killed them brutally on s suspicion of Child trafficking.
These are just a few shudder incidents which took place due to extreme religious motivation and social media fake news.there are many more similarly related mob violence cases.
Sometimes the reason of lynching is not limited to religious motivation and fake news agenda but also caste based discrimination.
Recently a 20year old Dalit man smashed with rods,stones killed in Pune by family of upper caste girl over affair.
These are just few reasons of mob lynchings in India there are many more if we count.
How to prevent such crimes
No crime can be prevented totally but upto some extend it can be prevented with strict law and orders and social awareness. Mob Lynching is also a matter of great concern these days and government should make a law for its prevention.
In the recent case of Sanatan Deka in Hajo,Assam when two accused of this mob lynching case were arrested were waving their hands while being brought to the police custody,these shows how fearless the lynching accused are getting for no strict laws for lynching.
Conclusion
In a democratic country like India incident like lynching can never be a part of its civilization. instant justice by a group of mob on the basis of suspicion can never be justified in a country like India.Social awareness should be spread among the masses to prevent such acts otherwise Mob lynching will always remain like a curse for this beautiful sovereign nation.
