Many of us like to discover new places, explore different cultures, try new dishes and so on. But trying different dishes is trending nowadays. More often we want to try those foods which look attractive but they are unhealthy and full of calories. This unhealthy lifestyle leads to obesity. Often we don't take it too seriously but this can be too dangerous for our health and turn to be life threatening also. Obesity has become a big concern in today's generation. It is actually a disease that has been spreading far and wide. Physical inactivity, laziness are also some factors leading to obesity. It is preventable and certain measures are to be taken to curb it to a greater extent. Both in the developing and developed countries obesity has been growing rapidly affecting both the youth and the old equally. Only when we start acquiring some serious health issues such as thyroid, diabetes, high blood pressure, increase in cholesterol, etc. then we start taking it seriously.
Obesity refers to being excessively fat. Mainly the fats are deposited around the trunk and waist of a human body. When a person is obese his/her Body Mass Index(BMI) is beyond 30. Scientifically, BMI is the measure which allows a person to calculate his/her fitness. It is calculated by dividing the weight of a person in kg with the square of his/her height in metres. The number thus obtained is called the BMI.
Obesity has several serious health issues associated with it. When someone takes too much stress or they are going through depression they start cultivating unhealthy eating habits and this leads to obesity. It even causes Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Cardiovascular diseases are a common part of obese people. It includes stroke, hypertension, gallbladder disease, and even cancer like breast cancer, prostate cancer, endometrial cancer and colon cancer.

In order to understand what obesity really is, it is very important for us to learn the key causes of obesity.
The most important part of being healthy is to maintain a healthy diet. If our diet is too rich in fats and proteins it may lead to obesity.
Adequate amount of sleep is very important for a sound body and mind. If we don't get it, it will impact on the hormones which triggers hunger signals that lead to obesity.
Most of the working people stick to their job desks and live a sedentary lifestyle. And hence, their body tends to get obese too easily.
During pregnancy women gain weight which can be hard to shed and this is one of the top causes of obesity.
Hormonal imbalance causes obesity. For example, the imbalance of the thyroid stimulating hormone is one of the factors of obesity.
How to control obesity?
The alarming increase in obesity has resulted in a rapid number of deaths also. Therefore, the risks of obesity need to be prevented. There are several methods which can be adapted to lose weight:-
eating healthy food,
doing regular exercise,
changing the current unhealthy lifestyle,
avoiding stress,
and to fight against this dreadful phenomenon people should be given proper education on the benefits of staying healthy and avoiding junks.

People should maintain a healthy diet, do regular physical exercise. Try to add more green vegetables and avoid junks. And socially nobody should make fun of an obese person because it may lead to loss of self-confidence, lower their self-esteem and make their life vulnerable.
